Since earth eles are very enchant dependant due to most skills requiring the caster to be very up close, there are very few areas where a geomancer can shine in normal PvE due to enemies with enchant removal. The earth skills that can be cast from a safe distance are DoTAoE that cause enemy scatter, so a decent use of a geomancer in normal PvE mission play is pretty hard to come by.

Mostly a PvE forum, and a PvE thread. Excuse me for pointing that out to someone posting his Stone Daggers turret. You can only see so many of those before your eyes start to bleed.

The thing about Geomancy is that people focus far too much on making a Geomancer, and those characters, well, they're weak. The reason they're on the team in the first place is for the wards. In PvP Earth offers little else beyond the ability to throw Obsidian Flame / Stoning at a spike (an ability shared with every other profession in the game)...in PvE, spiking doesn't matter and the line really doesn't do much better than Stone Daggers bot. I would love to be proven wrong about this, but that's what I've seen in the last year plus.

What I don't think is explored much at all is the Geomancy splash in PvE. Some people give a passing nod to Armor of Earth, but look at Kinetic Armor. Can't you keep that up on pretty much any ele? Most eles look at you strange when you mention putting a ward on their fire bar. Earth has some very good defensive skills, why aren't they run on characters with better proactive lines?

Peace,
-CxE

Peace and Harmony was running an ether prodigy nuker with ward against melee recently, it looked really effective both in terms of great pressure and great damage mitigation. I've been testing something similar to get the bar and attributes just right in alliance battles, though It's hard to squeeze in a lot of proactive damage skills and utility and keep thinking of a way to get glyph of concentration on the bar for rodgort's during vod.
